MIDDLE SECTION
The
Viböl male and female middle sections are designed at specific angles in
order to ensure that a perfect seal is achieved. The taper on the ball (male)
fits on a different taper into the female section and allows for emission gas to
form a second seal. The emission gas (diesel) is high in carbon, which, under
heat and pressure turns to graphite. It is a known fact that graphite is the
best antifriction agent. Therefore, the life of the
Viböl's moving parts are
extended.
Viböl AXIAL, LATERAL, SWIVEL & TWISTING MOVEMENTS
1. AXIAL MOVEMENT - the lateral movement of the male section sliding
in the female section of the
Viböl . This movement occurs when the diesel engine
torques under load and during gear changes. On initial pull-away, the
time/movement is longer than the time/movement of the ensuing gear changes which
can be measured in seconds. The arrangement of the 6 springs and the 2 flanges
ensures the ball section in a central position, 10mminward, or 10mm outward.
When the female is lengthened, then more axial movement can be achieved
depending on application.
2. SEALING ABILITY - the male and female section of the
Viböl form a
perfect seal and is lubricated by the emission gas (carbon) which forms graphite
under heat and pressure. This formation of graphite limits wear, the carbon film
ensures a further seal on the edges of the male ball section of the
Viböl,
ensuring no leakage of emission gas.
3. TWISTING & SWIVEL MOVEMENTS - the flanges on the
Viböl are not
fixed, therefore the twisting and swivel movements can be achieved. The spring
arranged ensures that the
Viböl returns to a neutral position every time a
movement takes place. Due to vibration, uneven road surfaces, torque and gear
changes, the
Viböl is in constant movement absorbing the differentiation between
the engine and the rest of the exhaust system.
